If I've never said it before, I LOVE people-watching in Italy. To this point tonight: that they taught me on the bus to my hostel after a late night, that I would rather be the old, loving couple--her eye patch and his pipe and all--over the hip young making-out couple any day. Maybe I'm a little old-fashioned. Future husband, if you think that means I'd give my left eye for you...I'd maybe MAYBE consider it :)

In my mind's eye

Yesterday along the waterfront I passed by a couple who I deeply wanted to recognize as one of our patients and her sweet, steadily faithful husband, taking a long awaited walk out in the town, blanketed by sunshine and fresh air. Without even seeing their faces I made out the countenance of each and their obvious affection for one another. And before even making eye contact I looked, secretly hoping to see a trach.
